What Does ‘Residence Permit Cannot Be Transferred’ Mean for Touristic Permits in Türkiye?

19 Kasım 2025 İlayda YILDIZ Comments Off

In Türkiye, a touristic residence permit is strictly personal and non-transferable.

This rule is often misunderstood, and it causes many rejections during the application or extension process.

Here’s what “non-transferable” actually means:

1. A Touristic Residence Permit Does NOT Grant the Right to Work

Touristic permits are for short-term stay only.

Working under this permit is illegal and may lead to administrative fines, entry bans, or deportation.

2. Your Rental Contract and Address Declaration Cannot Be Transferred to Anyone Else

If the rental agreement is in your name, the immigration authority expects you to be living there.

Letting others stay in your place or “sharing” your address is considered a misuse of the permit.

3. You Cannot Use Your Permit on Behalf of Another Foreigner

You cannot “host,” “represent,” or “cover” other foreigners using your own touristic permit.

Residence permits are personal; they cannot be shared, lent, or assigned.

Summary

A touristic residence permit is personal, temporary, and limited in scope.

It doesn’t allow you to work, transfer your address, or let others use your accommodation documents.

Misuse of these rules often leads to rejection or non-renewal of the permit.
